Joe Grimmond

Joe is the Principal of G & C and has worked both as a Consultant and Senior Executive in a number of Australian and North American Resource Development and Mineral Processing Companies. His most recent Management position was as Director of Human Resources with Kaiser Aluminium and Chemical Corporation in the USA (Alumina Business Unit). Prior to moving to this position Joe was the General Manager -Employee Relations with Century Zinc Ltd. as part of the CRA Group. In addition to the accountability for establishing the Century Team, Structure and People Systems – (including development of construction delivery Employee Relations Strategy), Joe conducted Land Rights negotiations with local indigenous people, which was a key element in establishing the basis for the project to proceed. Joe has been involved in a range of Human Resource Management positions over the past 30 years, including the General Manager – Employee Relations at Hamersley Iron, a major iron ore producer in Western Australia. Typical consulting projects include: * Engaged by the new owners of two major Australian businesses (plus 3000 people, 40 locations) to conduct an organization effectiveness review with the focus on work practices, systems, structure and culture prior to the merge of the businesses into one operating entity. * Project lead a small team of employees from all levels in an organization to design a new performance management system * Conduct of organization effective reviews for companies in QLD, NSW, WA, Canada, USA, Jamaica, Mexico and Argentina * Engaged on a number of Major Development Projects (combined value $3b aud 2002-2) to develop Project IR Delivery Strategies and provide ongoing advice * Project lead a Team Leadership- Team Membership skills development project for all employees in a major Australian company * Project lead an internal team within a major Australian Company to develop and implement a new HR Strategy directed at establishing a much more effective way of managing the business through people. Joe holds a Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relations, QUT and is a Chartered Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute and a Member of the American Society of Training and Development.
